Nice and simple ginge, I like it, just watch your tyre rules tho mate, Tamiya do a plastic that proper drills the T's in the traction stakes.

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
Hi Cavey, hope i got that right, its exactly the reason we don't want it to run as there has already been an incident with the speed that car was carying hitting another car, it was like it was using sorex 28's, it was so fast it was stupid and to fast may as well of been a race.
The good thing is you can use any other tyre you like....

Buying £15 BRCA licenses or signing disclaimers?
I know it's only sticking your moniker on a sheet of paper, but no dicking about with anything like that is what made drifting great fun in the first place and is still the reason I'd rather go drifting with the D1RC than racing. Merely an observation, that's all.

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
Hi Skodes, the reason behind it is D1RC have there own public liability insurance for there events which is why you pay the entrants fee to go there, this pays for all the little things including the insurance, we are only a small group and the PLI cost loads so instead of doing that we ask people either to have there own insurance (BRCA) or just to sign a disclaimer to say they understand if anything goes wrong it not our fault that's all.
It allows anybody to race with us on a very small budget hope this helps you to understand why the disclaimer is there.
Hope to see you at the weekend.
Marti

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
Hi Skodes.
As Marti pointed out mate we are only a small concern buddy so for us to get public liability insurance would be mega, Most of the guys are BRCA insured mate so no problem on that score some of the drift guys have no insurance at all and this is a safety measure to protect ourselves.
At the end of the day it would be me that carry’s the can for anyone who got hurt or had damage done,
I understand why you have raised concerns about it mate but it takes 2 seconds to sign mate and just kept on file for that event.
You said about the bigger events that you attend you don’t have to do this but they carry public liability insurance Skodes and you pay a lot more to attend their meeting than ours. At £3.00 we think it’s good value for money mate for a cracking afternoon of fun compared the the large amount you have to pay at JT’s venue.
Don’t get me wrong this is not a dig or jibe at you just trying to answer your question the best I can maybe in time we may well look into blanket cover but at £13.00 for BRCA insurance I think it well worth the money.
Give me a tug on Sunday and we will explain in more detail about the insurance and the cover as we was speaking with Jeff Clifton the other week at Tamworth

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
Si it is the tamiya drift tek tyres matey, they have to much grip and cause to much speed to be held by the drift car (touring car speeds) so we are not allowing them to be used for the comp, you can use any other type of tyre as long as its a drift tyre without rubber in it, this includes duel compound tyres so normal hard plastic tyres only there are loads to choose from.

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
so that rules out the fasttrax and any other similar as they have rubber on them too

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
Depends on how much rubber is in and how much grip you get from themChris4x wrote:so that rules out the fasttrax and any other similar as they have rubber on them too
Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
surely if theres rubber tho then you cant use them as no rubber allowed it says i mean fair enough but if theres a rule then it should be stuck too not have loop holes or just have it as any tire specific to drifting

eddie was very fast on the tamiya tyres and boy did he drift thats the fastest drifting i have ever seen i must say i was well impressed watching hi

Tyres
Hi guys just checked the spec
on tamiya super drift tech tyres
there made from resin so no rubber in them!
I mean if there that good as people say they are why dont we all get them??
It seams from looking at a few drit comps running around the world they spec only super drifts
Call it the next move on from A.B.S plastic resin is just a form of plastic
Not just because I have them I do think that specifying a brand is wrong
plastic not rubber I understand, but not different types of plastic as I'm sure you know there are many!
I mean whats next
No brushless because there to fast!
And to say I was running with plastic tyres and brushed motor
and the people who had brushless were going twice as fast so do they have to stop to or is there one rule for one and one for another!
Because if its a speed thing from which it seems to be I do think you get a better drift from a brushless car because you have the power so more control.
So to reverse that a slower car with better tyres give you the same drift
I cant see whats wrong with that.
And I sure tamiya won't the first and last to use different resins / plastics
Still miffed Si

Re: Time Table for the 9th may comp
I have tried my hardest to answer the question Chris sometime's it makes you think if its all worth it trying to get a club going mate you cannot please everyone all of the time.
but on reflection im begining to think i have more important things in my life to do.
So much stress and runing about im fast thinking f*ck it Tom and marti raised the question about the tyres and the speed they can give me i dont give a monkeys if someone turns up with cartwheels on their car as long as they have a good time. whatever corner i turn there seems to be some sort of problem so like i said bring this up at the drivers breif tomorrow mate and then i think you may get the answer you are looking for buddy im just sorry that i cannot give you a answer buddy
Simon print the spec off buddy if you have down loaded it cus i for one are as confussed about it as my dog is so there is no rubber in the tyre then dude if thats the case then they are ok yes no i dont know

tyres
Tamiya is now releasing these new Super Driftech Tires to help beginners get into this exciting catetory of R/C Drift driving. Made from resin material, these tires offer less friction than previously released drift tires made from rubber, and can be used to drift on any surface from asphalt to carpet. Less friction also means longer tire life compared to rubber tires, making for less frequent tire changes. In addition, the 24mm width makes this tire compatible with all Tamiya touring car chassis, giving fans the freedom to drift whatever car they want.
