I have decided to write all of the g2/ silvercan tweaks that I know after seeing that some people cannot just buy a motor and fit it and let their driving do the talking but hey thats racing Twisted Evil

I will start to write up the article over the next week and try do some pics for it aswell.
Hopfully this will give everyone who still races with silvercan a more level playing field.

Tomo Its got nothing to do with fit it and let there driving do the talking . . .

We / I have now seen two friends both have a G2 motor good cells and endless ESC from Mtronics to the V60 and they were both slow to the fact that your Granny with a zimmer frame was faster

When I mean slow I really mean slow no matter what you did weather it be gearing / cells / Motor or what ever the motors are plain and simple bloody crap and instead of them learning the black art of G2 why should they it should be a case of fit it and run but as for a leavel playing field . . . never in a million years

But please do post for the ones that are still running G2

No one was more for the silver can than me then the gloom of it just going down hill fast even fitting a new can and still very poor so say £10 per can and there are 4 sitting in my pit box thats £40 pure wasted.
Now when neil and gazza said put your brushless in i was a bit reluctant to but did do it and then i enjoyed some very fast racing so yes there is a place for silver can for some but for me im am converted to run brushless.

There is no black art! lol!

Just keep the motor clean and oiled and it will look after you. The G2 motor I am using is 9 months old and still going strong.

As Stox217 quite rightly said cells are the most important part of getting decent power. Of course if the cells are matched then this helps as a higher overall peak voltage can be achieved. But proper charging and care of the cells is also very important. I picked up a smart tray a year ago on ebay for a fiver which I use to equalise my cells before charging them.

Regarding the 2 motors and 3 speedos, which speedos were they? And the g2 motors are noticeably quicker after they have had some running as when they are new, only the two edges of the brush are in contact with the comm. After they have had a bit of running, the brush is in full contact with the comm. This is why you hear of people running in their motors prior to racing.
