there is currently a good mix of rc10r5s and crcs at the events this summer.
the associateds are currently topping both the BRCA and ardent summer series.
i run a CRC and love it.
its honestly down to personal preference, see what is running at your local club as they will be able to give advice on setups.

Interestingly the GT10 car I'd most like to run is Josh Cyrul's CEFX car. Aside from my huge respect for Josh, it is a fast and well designed chassis.

As you know what I do run is an Associated 10R5. I'd recommend it as a GT10 car to anyone. It is strong, has a simple light weight design and it shares a lot of 12R5/12R5.1 spares. Also very quick in the right hands Wink

The CRC is a good choice, and well supported in the UK. Frank and his team publish a lot of set up information. And of course the mighty Wim is the UK importer so spares shouldn't be an issue. There is also the McKune chassis for those wanting something a little different.

If you're wanting to run a 2S LiPo at any point, that's a lot easier with the CRC layout. I have got 10R2 "Project 2" waiting for when I've got time to work on it (hmmm), but won't be easy until Associated think about making a 2S kit (which they may not for the 10R5).

Cheers,
Mark

Worked on an X-Ray GT at a Lowestoft meeting. Responded pretty well to all the usual pan car set up changes, even if it was running very big diameter tyres Shocked

I'd got it close to a decent set up...then let Mick run my 10R5, and let's just say he was impressed. I then worked out his problem was additive so got him running my CS Grip, so by the last final he was in pretty good shape.

The X-Ray can run 2S LiPos of course...

Aside from a couple of laps at Lowestoft, I've got no experience of running an X-Ray. Suspect with work it would be pretty competitive.

Cheers,
Mark

Gazza sems pretty happy with the changes I suggestd for his Xray , it seems the same laws of physics apply in Slovakia as they do in the USA and the UK Rolling Eyes

Yep!

Most GT cars are based on an Associated L4 or R5 front end, which means they all work exactly the same way. The XRay and Serpent designs may look different, but the basic dimensions are very similar.

There are some other designs out there - the Speed Merchant front end works like older Trinity 12th cars for example. The adjustments are different, but the basics of caster, camber etc are still the same.

The move to LiPos means a move from t-bars to link cars. Centre shocks will all work in the same way, regardless of design. The differences between chassis designs will be how side-to-side movement is controlled - most use side springs, some use damper tubes.

Again different designs, but the same basic physics.

I must admitt Im note to sure on these damper tubes as both have to be set the same ( air or oil )
but with a mono shock its the same for both sides

Again take your pick

There is that - a mono shock is pretty much fit and forget. Just check for any feel of oil in the shock from time to time.

The trick with damper tubes is to remember to change the goop in them on a regular basis. And make sure you don't overfill them. They do control side-to-side movement more consistently, but do make routing of wires more of a challenge.

Cheers
