Hi guys, went to the liveys smile event at the Tamworth club TRRAC at the weekend with Keith as his pit man and what a day we had there.
We pitted with tomo who was racing his F1's and on the next table to Andy Bird and Nick turner of Team Powers (ABE Racing) and Nick was the F1 winner of the day with Andy just 1 second behind him after the massive spill on the very final corner and got to take 1 of our donated trophies home with him, well done Andy what a fantastic race mate right up to the last seconds you were still giving it your all and a fantastic battle with your team mate ended up with both of them flying through the air right on the last bend 50ft from the line and hitting the crash mats that were up against the wall.... the whole room erupted as the battle commenced and ended in the wall and Andy still went on the take the win with his team mate taking second place well done guys.

Me and Keith had a mixed day with a few car problems but not to many but a massive learning curve, in the beginning we went with the motor we had in which was a 13.5 but soon realised that we didn't have enough in the tank on the straights with allot of the big boys flying past but Keith still pulled a great 4th place in this race his first fairly serious race with guys that are used to doing nationals.
The second race wasn't any better for us really but we had decided that the motor had to come out and a 10.5 was put in kindly lent to us by Ginge (Tom Walton) and this made for quite a dramatic improvement in the power stakes and we were now on the pace just about with only a little tweaking needed but an over tightened diff kept the back end way to tight and left us grip rolling our way round the course and gave us 6th place as the rest of the guys were now starting to get things right and picking the pace up.
Race 3 felt better as we had sorted the rear diff out and the grip roll had all but gone and Keith reported back that the car felt quite good the only problem now was the rest of the guys racing were seasoned Pan car racers and were now really on the pace and had there cars dialled right in for the final but still holding back a little i felt anyway but giving Keith a 7th place finish.
The final was mayhem with cars getting taken out right left and centre and the very tight track was causing massive problems with the cars banging the sides all the time, more of a problem for the F1 guys then us as we have a little tighter turning and manoeuvrability then them but still very tight, the race leader had a few problems with his car and was forced to pull over while his dad also in the same race pulled off the track to help his son out.....! i'd never seen anything like it he gave up his race to help out his lad well done guys.
We didn't do to well in the final finishing last 10 of 10 but came away with loads more knowledge then we did at the start of the day met some great people and had a fantastic time with the guys and girls from the Tamworth club thanks to you all for a great day out, see you all soon for some more racing and great fun and all the proceeds from the event going to the Liveys Smile appeal fantastic.

Thanks to you all for a great day....Marti & Keith

it was a real great day and marti couldnt have explained it any better! as a complete beginner i have come away with a few hints and tips on how to drive in the future and how to tweak and get the best out of the car. the final race wasnt helped by keiths car leaving the track and going under a table after someone smacked into the side of him.

the pics are really good!
