Hi all have been a member of the forum for a while and thought I should probably start posting.

My names Ash and I've been racing Daves on ovals for a few years now and have decided to have a go at circuits as well.

I've built a new v12 for the task, Has a worlds heatsink, 3mm countersunk chassis, worlds alloy servo mounts, ceramic rear bearings, ballraced front wheels, scanner low profile servo, lb racing tyres and a probe 12esc. Ive drilled an extra 2 sets of holes for the battery tray so I can move the cells froward by 10 or 20mm

Was also my first go at painting a lexan shell.

May consider getting an alloy motor pod but they seem a bit pricey at the mo.

An introduction and my new dave!! Empty A race report!!

Post  Bluestreak Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:05 am

Had my first outing on a circuit today. Very Happy Had 3 races of 5min duration. The first heat my battery pack worked loose Embarassed so didn't get a full run in. second heat finished in second place 2 laps down on the leader and 2 laps up on the third place car!! Shocked Then managed to repeat this feat in the third race! Shocked Shocked

The car was great through the twisty bits, really planted, but im beginning to think I maybe geared wrong as I was loosing time to the leader on the long straight. I'm currently running a 14/48 setup with a g2 on 4 cells. I found out the caterhams where running a 13/50 which means I am actually geared higher than them, but at the moment I can pretty much hold the throttle on full blast and just drive straight round the track barring the hairpin which i just have to lift off for. After a 5min run the motor is barely warm!

Should I be gearing higher?? What do you guys think??

Barley warm you say . . . Well there you go mate keep going up a pinion at a time untill it goes better watch your lap times and you will see it getting better and when its going slower again then go back down 1

Hope that helps and well done

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Had another look at the car this morning and realised that my transmitter was only setup for 3/4 throttle!!! Mad Still I guess that second place with only partial power is a good start. I think it helped in a way as I was able to put in good consistent laps as I was well within the cars limits. So will be out again next Tuesday with FULL POWER this time! cheers

Like you said, better to be consistent with a slower car than only being able to do 1 lap without crashing with a quick one Very Happy

Cant quite see the ESC on your car but if it is set up first with Neutral / Forward / Reverse and then hit the set button where your TX is only 3/4 makes no differance

The ESC was set up on a previous car Gazza and I obviously had the EPA of the throttle set higher on that car than I did last night as when I adjusted it this morning it started revving higher!! Embarassed Embarassed
