New club looking for advice

I'm from Essex micro racers club & am looking for some advice on some mardave 1/12 things,
1, track carpet, What do you use that's cheapish,
2, rough lane size (4 cars per heat)
3, track markers (thinking of 25mm plastic conduit gaffer tapped to floor)
4, spur & pinion sizes for brushed & brushless set ups to give equal performance (trying to keep things cheap for starters but not put off people who want to use brushless/lippo set ups)
any other thoughts or advise welcome
