Looking on putting softer springs on the front end and was wondering which was the harder spring the standard one or the medium spring ? have only been able to find the springs in either standard medium or hard . thanks Dale

Front springs Empty Bouncing

Post  MrJohn Fri Sep 10, 2010 6:38 am

The one thing that really annoys me about my Mardave is the bouncing. It corners fine, but tends to bounce up and down quite a bit and looks awful.

It's all bog standard as it came in the kit. Maybe putting softer springs on the font end will help. Comments?

Hey buddy, if your bouncing at the rear and lifting an inner front wheel then tighten down the damper ring screws at the back slightly and loosen off the rear springs by 2 turns.
If the front feels bouncey and skips in the bends then fit harder spring or add more damping effect by putting diff grease on the kingpins.
Hope this helps.

Rear pod is set up correctly. I did that when I first built it last year and have checked it every time I run it.

I'm racing at Crewe tonight so will give it a good looking at and shake down. This wasn't really noticeable before with the duff motor in it, but since putting another silvercan in it's manifested itself. Like I said, it doesn't really affect how it's handling at the low speeds of Mardaves, but looks horrible. Maybe I'm getting too used to the smoothness of racing 12th circuit. lol

I'm going to strip it all down and rebuild it again. Obvious something isn't right.

My last comment about the 12th's was tongue in cheek. Maybe I should make use of the smilies a bit more. lol

Cheers Lee. We'll see how it runs and go from there. Smile

Last week I only ran it a little bit as I was racing the 12th and TC. I only wanted to see the difference the new motor made, but noticed it was hopping a lot. Smile

Think I've found the problem. The centre pin was sticking and stopping any sort of smooth movement.

The car seemed pretty well planted tonight, so it must have been the sticky pin.
