Speed controllers?

Speed controllers?
Hi all, went testing on Friday but this is how I stand at the mo and need some tech help please.
I have a STD G2 motor in my mardave and it doesn't seem to have a lot of poke out the corners and woundered if it could be my SPEED CONTROLLER that's not giving the power out?
I have geared it right down and it is still slow out the corners and I've geared it up just to check it agen.
My batteries are fine with power and output and charge to 6.13v.
I have a few speed controllers in other cars and was thinking of swapping them round and testing them on the track?
Does anyone no if this would be worth it or not?

Re: Speed controllers?
Is your speedo adjustable for punch etc? Is there any setting on your transmitter that would alter throttle response? Do you run a diff and is it slipping? Looked ok at Tamworth, what have you changed since then?

Re: Speed controllers?
Hey buddy. Some speedos are designed for 7.4v not for 4.8v and have a smoother power curve built into them so the buggy or tc they were designed for would be easier to drive. Re setting your speedo may help as some register the fact there is a lower voltage input and work accordingly. I would say the speedmaster speedos and the vrx mardave speedo is very good and is designed to give max punch straight away without the gentle throttle curve of the more expensive speedos. Myrinics do some good speedos for g2 motors but stox will be the best person to ask as he has tried about every speedo out there and his g2 flies
Re: Speed controllers?
Welcome to the wonderfull world of the G2 brushed set up
It really is hard to get power out of these things but Batterys and ESC are the key
I Used to run the XRS which is desingend for 4 to 6 cells
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
But it could be a number of things Cells / Motor etc I got so frustrated with this hence why most of us went 13.5 and a 1s LiPo
But Yea Nick should be able to answer this one its so hard to find the problem was it just your car slow or are the others the same

Gazza mate did you ever have the Novak go pop on you? A few lads at Ddmcr had them and they went pop and they had to get new ones. Some of the eBay cheap tamiya ones are really good aswell.
Re: Speed controllers?
Nope never did mate touch wood
But the thing we found out is . . . . Motor Limit: 15 turns (at 6 cells)
and it had a thermal cut out so if your G2 motor is about on its last legs and the cut out comes in . . . Bin it and get another one
or they had been playing with the motors

I got a lrp runner and a tamiya speedo out of my drift car. Looked on the web and the tamiya speedo may need a extra battery for the receiver?
I will try them on Friday.

Re: Speed controllers?
Some speedo's are designed for 7.2 use.
I tend to stick to my fav speedo = Speedmaster v60 or equilvlent.
The Xrs i had found to be a good little speedo but not enough braking or reverse.
The more fet's in the speedo the more punch you get.
The v60 has two layers of fets + instant reverse
The xrs has less fets and slower reverse time.
The downside to the v60 is its price £64.95
Its down to money you get what you pay for!
For me it would be the v60
I have seen the tamiya ones and they seem good for £17 !!!
The tamiya works of 4.8v as my dad has one in his mardave mini
Also if you could check the resistance of your cells? as these play a big part in punch.
