As well as the one MrJohn has posted from Demon I've been watching some on the bay:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (same as the ones Mardave are selling, but slightly more!!) £25.95

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (I know they are not in this country!! but for the cap, and C rating affraid ) £35.49

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (looks the same as the Team Powers one (different sticker!)) £26.89

If I was going to go for one of the above I'd prob go for the one in the last link Very Happy

All . . . .
you want to look at the 50C rating ones for best performance

I maybe wrong on this but isnt the C rating calculated in a way that means a higher capacity battery with say 50c is actually in reality a lower C rating than a lower capacity with the same 50c rating.

Soooo what I was told was that a 4000 with 50c would be more punchy and give mor oomphhh than a 5000 50c.

Please dont take this as gospel it is just something I got told, would be interesting to hear if this is true.

C rating is the burst

so off the line full power the battery is capable of delivering 50c burst good for say 1 minute ( good ) a real car with turbo

so off the line full power the battery is capable of delivering 40c burst good for say 1 minute ( average ) a real car no Turbo

hope that helps

Lipos come with 2 C ratings Gazza.....one for burst rating which is when you 1st nail the throttle from a stand still.....then you have a continuous C rating which is used for when you are going around the track......sorry for the cr@p explanation!!

Tomo your not far wrong mate......I'm lead to believe that if a 2s lipo that has a 3600mah and a C rating of 50c would be about the same as a 5000mah lipo with a C rating of say 25C (them examples are not correct, but just figures that I came up with to explain what I've read else where)

Yes I was told by a mate of mine that puts lipos in his spy drone things he builds for the military.
My knowledge on lipo tech is limited but have asked him to send me some more info on it, like how its calculated etc as Im intriuged and want to buy the punchest batteries rather than have more capacity than I really need.

Tomo I've just grabbed these snippets from of the web

In theory, it is what the cell is rated at for continuous discharge. So for the example given, the 3800 25C is supposed to be able to supply 95 A continuous, and the 35 C is supposed to be able to supply 133A

Taken off RCTech:

for starters, there are no 60C continuous discharge lipos. and if you looked at the various discharge graphs for lipos in general you will see that there's a distinct dip at 30C. a 60C discharge would effectively destroy a lipo.

the thing about a C rating now is it' s being pushed as a marketing gimmick. I started with lipos way before they became popular with RC cars by shoehorning old packs in for speed runs.

Looking at the only discharge graph for these orion slpb cells, it leads me to believe that a 30 and 35c continuous discharge will cause the voltage to drop very close to cutoff within the first five minutes of pushed that hard. To me, that says 'danger! you are overdriving the pack! back off!'. I'd hate to think what a 40C discharge will do.

I take a different approach to lipos. I look at the C rating AND the total mah. A high C rating might look nice but if the battery does not have the mah to back it up, you are essentially overdriving the pack. Sure it would be nice to say you have a 35 or 40C pack but can the pack itself stand up to those extremely high discharges?

so no, more C does not equate more speed. more C equates coming too close to cutoff point. a higher voltage under load on the other hand, DOES equal more speed. that's where the higher mah rated packs come in.

Found a simple formula:
a 5200 50c lipo can discharge 260 amps.....
a 5200 25c lipo can discharge 130 amps.....
a 5200 40c lipo can discharge 208 amps.....

5200=5200mah 5200/1000=5.2
5.2 x 50 (c) = 260 (amps)

On the ebay one that looks like team powers.. you are looking at

26.89 + 3.99p&p = £30.88

Then you got some problems !!

firstly they over the £17.00 customs limit so will be subject to Customs @ 17.5% then on top of this you will have a post office charge for customs of £8.00 so you nice cheap lipo sudden starts to look around £39.00

If I could get the price down to £32.00 UK would anyone be intrested ?

You would be better asking in the mardave and 12th section as I only use 2s lipos so cant comment.
£32 sounds very reasonable tho.
