Well what can I say still a little cold but was still good fun As you know I have an Xray GT10 to which I must say handles very well and I'm still in process of setting it up and getting the grips with things I was looking forward to this meeting for a while but rushing out in the cold morning and loading the car. . . . right got every thing . . . famous last words cheers

On booking in and getting ready for my first run with other GT cars and looking to see how good or bad and if I was actually on the Pace . . .

Well I did not have to wait long Tomo was well on the pace with his car was not sure what esc motor he was using but I hope he posts here to tell us . . .

I was very well pleased with the car in that I was only 2 laps down in 8 minutes I was expecting it to be a lot more so its getting there

Any way Tomo's car was the one to beat and I must say it turned in to corners a lot better than mine so I now know that a new set of front tyres is required on mine to componsate my under steer . . .

AHHHHH thats what I forgot My tyres not just for the GT but also my Dave PMSL

Oh well I did manage 3rd for the final but was no way was I gonna do any better than 3rd and to note as I did not finish due to Diff slip in Final 1 and motor cut out in Final 2 LOL and the fronts were just showing plastic where there should be rubber PMSL

Oh and thanks Tomo for the quick front wheel nut on me Dave I managed to hold of James

And also it was so cold I was geting cold thumbs and could just hold on to the lead in the 2nd Final of the Daves that and a running nose and I thought it was warmer

My car was the old gen x10 with 13.5 and a nosram matrix reverse speedo in it from afew years ago (No advance functions or turbo) and on jaco grey's and purple fronts.
I also strugled with understeer in the corners but that was down to poorly trued tyres and not having the correct ride height adjusters with me.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the colours aren't always the same from different manufacturers, or at least the shore ratings didn't translate directly - is that still true?

Round 3 winter series Empty Series to long

Post  Admin Mon Jan 10, 2011 7:18 pm

I think the winter series is a good thing but mile to long before your section comes around again I know my young grandson who has just started is fast loseing intrest.
Would it be not a good train of thought if Ardent run another series that they leave at least 2 week end sundays for big race days.
thats just my thoughts i know some will say well its open tue and fri for race night thats fine but when its not on your door step and a 95 mile round trip and up at 4 am this is not a option

I know what you mean paul its a very long drive for me but well worth it.
That said I am sooooo happy DDMCR has started up again as it give people a place to practice and try things out and keep the "fire" burning as it were before the bigger meetings at places like ardent.

Yes very true it could be 95 mile one way but are there to many people who could for one reason or another not do the series who have cars sitting on shelfs waiting for a meet.
I just think that maybe it would be better to leave the 2 sundays for big race meetings as i think we have loads of kids who have had cars for xmas and are not ready to race in a series yet.
Also big sunday race meets was a good place to meeet and make new mates and chew the cud with

Just see if you can pop down to a mid week club as theyre also very good to meet people and its far less frenetic than the big stuff.

Don't get too hung upon just the shore rating the type of foam will effect handling just as much.

The Jaco list contains Jap (Pink, magenta double pink, purple) US( grey, yellow, tan, black) and standard foam (green, blue, aqua)

As a rule of thumb jap tyres will wear best give good traction but lower side bite, US foam less traction but more side bite, then standard foam.

Indoors running CS highgrip or speedtech you can get away with lilac or double pink all round at 99.9% of tracks.
