Re: Summer Series
No still no mardave class for me as I only have cells can't be arsed with buying expensive ass 1s lipos just yet and boosters get on my nerves. Until there is some electrics out there that will work fine with no booster on 1s I just won't race a 1s class that goes for gts aswell. Think I am just gona stick with f1 now.
P.s my Dave is totally stock as it came off from winning the dave brushless circuit series on 2 year old cells and on 3 year old Tyres with just the mardave brushless in so it's not that mad

Si, I Would say say no as he original rrp was higher than the £69.99 and also it does NOT have a reverse fitted!

This is rubish RRP is RRP
so If I bought one that had been at at some point higher how would I know?????????
This just proves it changes
You state recommended retail price and thats all if that changes it not my fault nore yours
It seems to me your forced to by the V60/G28 or nought if you want to be competitive!
How do I know the V60 didn't start at £70/£80 and brought down to forfill the £69.00 rule!!
And how do you know the said speedo had to lower its price on supply or demand
Vat changes interest rates allchange RRP
Although It does state in the rules Just £69 anthing goes that means I can get a nice tekin second had
sorted
Its either RRP OR ITS NOT
or is it £69 anything goes
£69 is £69 new second hand or what!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT IS IT

Re: Summer Series
Si its just £69 rrp, if its a esc from a shop and they are selling it for less than £69 and they dont state it is in a sale or the price has been lowered then i would say its ok. So if a £300 esc is selling for £60 in a model shop and its not in a sale or labeled as a price drop then i would say its ok.
Also the v60/G28 is said to be the best esc and the fastest drivers in the mardave class use them so dont worry what you get bud.
Unless you are doing crazy lap times and wheelie of the line mate i dont think its a problem as unless every motor is checked before a race then it doesnt matter realy as its possible to get a motor to run with loads of torque or crazy fast but it will only last 1 or 2 rounds. Some tech people can do this so you can never no but for me i no what ive got and i race fair.
Tyre choice wins races from my experience. Get them sorted and it makes a massive difference.

Re: Summer Series
Hi Bud
I know what your saying your right the V60/G28 does seem the best but I did ask for 1 type of esc before to be fair in the stock class!
be it V60/G28 or mtronics
But youve gone through nearly the whole winter series on a different ESC
Now you have one and almost been forced to get one! to be comp
I bought my kit with the mtronics ESC in it thinking its up to the job!
And quite clearly its not!
So have to spend more money on something else to be comp so it seems
all I'm saying is
BUY CHEEP BUY TWICE!!!!
Lesson learnt A!

Re: Summer Series
All this speedo to be competitive stuff is a false economy. A cheap Tamiya reverse speedo can beat a v60 given the right set up with gearing and a good drive. You will find more speed and time by prepping the car as well as it can be and sticking to the racing line and making no mistakes. A mistake will cost you 6 seconds but only if your looking for 0.1/0.2 of a second a lap then you can worry about speedos. Consistency is what you need to look for rather than speedo performance. You could give the top drivers any speedo and they would make it to the top regardless.
So guys spend you money on practicing and finding out what Tyres work for you etc.

Re: Summer Series
Si, I would of got the v60/G28 sooner mate but didn't have the money so I had to sell some stuff to be able to get it. I would say you are right in that it feels like it's forced upon racers to get the best as you can never seem to catch the top racers. That being said it's down to the driving skills also.

Re: Summer Series
Gazza why you giving Si false info? He'll be gutted if he finds a brushed speedo that first started out with a rrp of say £130 and it's been reduced to say £49.99. then Si turns up at the track and puts his car to be checked to find that his speedo maybe illegal!!! Imagine Si would be a little miffed!! I know I would be!
So please DON'T tell people yeah go and buy it when you don't know what to say!!!!
@ Si, John Dawson runs a mtroniks I run q V12R (same as V60/G28) and he still beats me! So it's NOT down to the speedo!!!!
As Tomo said car maintainance, tyres and drivin lines are the way togo

The so called rules state £70 max . . .
Its below £70 thats it period
If some one walks in with a recipt and a RRP of £68 you cant say a thing
Learn the rules / Loop holes
Still it has no reverse so dont bother getting one

If you Buy A Joe blogs ESC on e-bay at £30 mistake still cant use it its the RRP
Im not telling any one to cheat the rules CLEARLY state max £70 RRP
SHOPS are selling them between £30 and £68 RRP so there for YOU CAN USE IT SIMPLE

Lee. . . im not being Nasty in any way shape or form Im just pointing out a scenario
OK Never said you were thick I said you could not grasp it im trying to help you understand it
Dont use snippits of what you think I said read the whole thing
you said

As I was Scruitineer / Pro on the IC 1/10th section cars years ago I know all about Loop hole's. .
And Loop holes is NOT CHEATING its reading the rules and knowing What is allowed and what is not if you think im crafty wait till you see what the others will come up with or do

Re: Summer Series
Right I've sent the eBay seller (Muchmoreuk) a question about the RRP of the speedo and did a Google search and the speedo I was looking at has a RRP of £50.99 so to me it's legal
Here's the link for you Gazza
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
YES it's a speedo for Micro motors, but I know that people used these at Wirral Model car Club a few years back!

This is way off topic guys the rules are stated on ardents site and john has clarified things. No more need to be said on the clarification of rules then use pm or chatroom as it will be quicker and not clog this thread.
