No worries mate. In your case the car will go slower but not by a huge amount is the simple answer.
Here's why; You are going from 4.8v nominal (cells) to 3.7v nominal (lipo) but the car will be quite abit lighter with the lipo in so you will find the rear end is more stable in the high speed stuff with less of a tendancy to kick out on you when you change direction quickly. Also because the car is lighter it will take less power to pull in out of the corners so you can gear up a pinnion tooth or two to make the difference up on the straight vs the cells cars.
Also you can play with the settings on your speedo to compensate for the lower voltage and what gearing you now end up using with lipo.

So over a lap definatly slower as the ardent track isnt technical enough in its layout to really show up the handling benifits of the lighter cars in the mardave class at least. There are alot of full throttle sections with only the last 1/4 of the lap being of a nature that would aid a lighter car. I would say 0.3/0.5 slower a lap but more drivable and you can go deeper into the bends as the cars more settled so maybe time to be made up using the higher corner speed you can gain by using a lipo and less tyre wear on the rears with lipo also (providing you dont chunk em Smile )

Hope this helps abit. anything else ask away. the prat

I dont know why they just dont run the standa
rd stock mardave class with th g2 motors and another 'super dave class' which would be a brushless anything goes as long as you have a 13.5 motor. This would be alot easier.

It would be easier but other clubs run different rules this is the route of the problem Sad
Hence my arguement for a single nationally regonised rules.

I know mate but as you say no one listens to little old us so dont see how far we can get. The circuit serries is doing a blinding job, maybe woth chatting to robbie kerr when he comes down as he is brca and may give us a better view of the who what and why.

I still think my basic outline for the seperation of classes allows the most open entry into dave racing, allows the racer some choice but keeps it a level playing field.

Hi guys
As I'm new to this sport
ie:- mardaves
for me can it be kept simple after all the discussions about shells motor etc etc
would it be possible to have a topic for the mardave winter series that simply state what you can use and what you can't use
and if it changes change it here!
ie
body type allowed
motor
mods allowed etc etc
just so me and may be others can at least look at and know where we are
so we don't go buying or modding are car's before the winter series starts!

Sorry if this sounds a bit blunt
but I'm getting a bit lost on the can and can'ts
Thanks
Si

I think the attraction in mardave is that people can race for cheep and can put what they like in electrical wise so i do suggest you keep the superdave class! even if it mean's three classes of mardave!

You have 13.5 10.5 and mod is touring car so why not mardave ?!?

Touring / Mardave
ie 13.5 = G2 4cell
10.5 = 13.5 lipo
mod = mod anything goes

simples!

That way every body gets to race and no body is turned away!
