Re: BODY SHELL???
Maritime i think is big track so for that i would used to run a calibra or a merc 'c' class shell. But switched to a peug 205 with a parma wing on the back as i find this shell to suit my style of driving my mardaves.
At the end of the day its personal choice tbh

Re: BODY SHELL???
Ive never raced there yet so have nothing to compare it to but it is very popular with TC so i would think its fairly large.
How does the new Fiesta go compared to the pug 205 and is the Bmw mini any good?
only reason i ask is that i usally race Nitro TC and i find the type of shell makes a huge differance to handling.

Re: BODY SHELL???
Hi mate the mini seems to have the most turn in but has very short overhangs so is great for chicanes and quick direction change.
The Fiesta is a good balanced shell that suffers only really with high speed stability and the calibra is a very stable shell with maybe a hint of understeer but it is a good starting point.

Re: BODY SHELL???
Calibra shell m8 as they are tough and seem to handle very well as I started with the lotus shell then got a Calibra one and noticed a very big difference. only down side is they don't come with a spoiler so it's your choice what you put on.

Re: BODY SHELL???
Cool some well informed advice thanks guys, is there any national type rules regarding spoilers and to what shell they are fitted to?
The maritime rules state (lexan only) and its a mixed class with Tamiya mini type chassis so any thing goes really but i wont be able to get much testing in before my first round of carpet wars so just looking for as much advice as poss.
What Spoilers with what shell are people using and part numbers would also be great.

Re: BODY SHELL???
The only type of shells that are frowned upon are the 12th circuit style shells that look like inch high jelly moulds.
For wings annsman do sum 165mm wide ones which fit and look similar to the wing on the calibra in my avatar pic.

Re: BODY SHELL???
There is NO BRCA RULES for CIRCUIT Mardaves at the moment only club rules !!!!!
But most clubs run to the norm of
1. If its made by mardave you can use it. . . ball race. . diffs etc
2. all suspension wheels tyres to be standard kit
3. body shells any that are Mardave / kamtec ( so lexan and abs )
its just down to what club rules are really...
but wings / airofoils are OK as long as its in the spirit of things I mean watching a stock car wing on a circuit car is taking the mickey etc
I seen at Ardent winter series a nascar shell with a FULL BLOWN 1/10th I.C rear wing . . .
Now thats taking the P*** and he fitted a rear defuser as well

1/12 Mardave Circuit Rules
General Rules and Regulations 2010
These General Rules cover all Classes & BRCA National & Open Meetings within the 1:12th Mardave Circuit Section, except were indicated. They should also be read in conjunction with specific class rules.
BODYSHELL
1) Any commercially available Mardave or Kamtec, ABS, Lexan & Carbon effect bodyshells may be used. The shell must remain securely fixed to the car throughout the race. Windows may be cut out on ABS and carbon effect shells.
2) No supplementary aerofoil or fins shall be fitted to the body with the exception of a rear wing if desirable. This wing must be non metallic, commercially available and securely fixed.
3) The bodyshell can be decorated to suit the individuals taste providing all coatings are of a permanent nature.
