Post  dirtyghost Thu Nov 11, 2010 9:11 pm

Hi chaps, we had another great nights racing last night with the guys at Bedworth rc club.
Alex was on top form again and was chasing Nick down like a daemon "you need to watch him nick" wont be long and he's gona have ya, my 17.5 4cell dave was flying very exciting to drive if not a little Leary still didn't make me that much faster all tho i did break the 7sec lap with a 7.65's lap and 33 in 301, gona turn it down a little for next week but will add turbo for the straight as the turbo was left turned off.
Thanks for another great nights racing with great guys, had a great night.

Yep lots of happy racers, had a great nights racing, just need to find a little more consistency.

As Nick says, the open class is open, you could even run your 12th if you liked, but it has made for some great racing ans everyone is leaving with a smile on their faces. With the track being small, you need a good set-up and consistency rather than straight line speed. The tightness of the track is definitely helping my racing loads.

Marti's 17.5 4cell set-up is an interesting one, i'll be watching with interest over the next few weeks.

Gazza, Wasn't it you who originally split the class !

By the way, sorry we couldn't make it on Wednesday, I'm facing a significant amount of home DIY all triggered by a built under fridge failure.

See you all when we see you. Richard

Hope you get your diy sorted rich.
Paul I think nick meant moaning trackside not moaning on here.
Bedworth indoors is small but if the racers enjoy it then that's what it's about.
Get some vid of your 17.5 marti and post it up. I will volunteer as cameraman/ Alex and dale heckler lmao

No Rich that was Mr Mardave and HIS brushless setup REMEMBER . . . Wink

I tried to get more into it by going the 13.5 and 1S LiPo because the G2 motors are crap and more people leaving going to TC like young Tomas Lord now doing TC. . . . pity but there you go

I'm trying to keep the Dave going with Standard class and the Brushless 13.5 and 1s LiPo but its hard work every one wants to run differant things like you did remember Laughing

wouldn't it be easier to put a 13.t motor limit on the brushless class with any batteries and any esc allowed. I was put off by going brushless because of having to use a 1s lipo. I dont want to pay out extra for the lipo and booster when i already have some perfectly useful 4-cells.

Daz . . .

Its hard to cater for all mate but you have to draw the line some where. . .

This all started by Chris at Mardave and there 400 size brushless motor . . . .

Cut a long story shorty not enough testing by chris and system would slow down we all had enough went 13.5 and 4 cell was way fast . . 1s LiPo came out for 1/12th I adopted it and hey presto

This discussion has been going on a long time now ( 2years ) not just on here but at Hinckley as well .
We had all sorts of people turning up with differant motors ( brushed 19t ) etc it got to be a Joke and then the committee said OK run it if you want and they did . . BUT they did not score any points in the Championship and as soon as they seen this they went G2 4 cell or 13.5 and 1s LiPo

I was approached by the Chairman of Hinckley club re some rules for the G2 and Brushless and to be honest I would go for the fusion 13.5 combo at £85

there are 5 people running this at the moment at Hinckley so it cant be that bad can it

As per the cost of a 1s LiPo and booster . . .

simple stay in the G2 class

LOL Nick I been saying that since day 1 but . . . .

The Mardave G2 and 4 cell will be around till the Cells dye off
( by that I mean you can no longer get sub C cells just like Ni-Cads )

now when that happens ( thats when not if ) what you all gonna do . . . .

Look at our hobby now . . Planes all LiPo

Touring cars all LiPo's

1/12th just a few left I think what is the Nats like these days cells or more LiPo

then the good ole dave .. . .. and oh look Mardave now sell LiPo's and a BOOSTER Laughing

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

so yea the future is bright the future is 13.5 and LiPo

That for them to worry about when it happens. But now while we have them why cant they be used instead of lipos in the 13.5t class?

again you got to draw the line some where and the line is

G2 with 4 cell and 13.5 & 1s LiPo
simple 2 class's

othewise we will be back to the " I have a "

19t brushed motor 4 cell

19t brushed 1sLiPo

17.5 brushless 4cell

17.5 brushless LiPo

why cant I run that

again you got to draw the line some where . . .

Look at touring cars there is 10.5 and 13.5 simple isnt it

so for the Daves its G2 4 cell and 13.5 & 1s LiPo its that simple I cant make it any clearer than that. . . .

sorry if that sounds over the top but after 2years of saying the same thing it gets boring

Well i guess i should step in here and have a few words.

Firstly im using the 17.5t 4cell combo because i can, Bob and the guys at Bedworth have made an open class so you can run anything you like so a massive thanks to them for doing that, not that we have all gone out and gone stupid with daft motors and packs far from it i have the daftest car in open most others are using 20t Saturn or hacker motors and i think nick is even running with a normal G2, i guess running in open with us gives him more of a challenge and we still cant beat him.... lol but by god are we trying.
Second thing, why the hell should i go out and buy 1's lipos and boosters for my car when i have 17.5t and more 4cell packs then i know what to do with..... anyone no ok then.... running 17.5 i need no booster big saving and i need no lipo's also a big saving, i have all that kit here now like allot of people so im going to use it..... ive never been a dedicated follower of fashion.
After using the 17.5 and 4cell's i have to say chaps its a little bit nut's, crazy fast wheely popping quick no one could touch me on the straights i even left the 20t Saturn for dust and this was with no timing advance or turbo being used, only using the 3rd setting on the throttle profiles on the tekin rs and turning it down on the transmitter so i guess i could say it's running at 50% ish maybe a little less so the 13.5 1's lipo must be nuts if you give it a little push in the right direction, no wonder i couldn't keep up with them at ardent when using my G2 XRS combo.

Ill leave it there, this is not a dig at anyone, nor do i want to start an argument im just voicing my opinion and what my finding were.

I will continue to use G2 4cell until the battery's die and i cant buy no more, my dave was setup for fun on 17.5 and fun it is.

Cheers Marti. Very Happy cheers

allright for you with a tekin rs that is proramable with turbo ect. Are you saying a budget brushless can compete with this? Me thinks not. Again the racer with the deepest pockets will have the quickest car. I think g2 4 cell has to be the fairest and cheapest way to race. In my opinion.

Well said Paul why spend the extra money when most of us have the kit anyway sitting around, and i only used the Tekin cos that's what i had that i could turn down, if i was to put one of my other brushless ESC's in that i couldn't turn down i dread to think how quick it would of been.

G2 4cell class 1 stock

Brushless stays brushless, run what you like (brushless open class) 1's 4cell 13.5 17.5 10.5 if you want you still have to be able to drive it at the end of the day, keep them separate, brushless class and a brushed class that's as simple as it gets.

Now that makes sence to me as a layman terms i think to much rule pushing will just disintergrate what is a cheep and cheerfull form of motor sport and will allow new people to come straight into the class they desire and be able to compete in this class.
I maybe wrong im not sure but would it not be better 4 cell g2 and visa versa because i dont quite understand it all as in the words of the dragons den FOR THAT REASON IM OUT lol
